What is the Carbon Protocol of SA?
The Carbon Protocol of SA is a section 21, not-for-profit organisation, registered in April 2009. The Carbon Protocol of SA was established as a collaborative entity of concerned and interested parties within South Africa, with the aim of raising awareness and facilitating the transition to a climate resilient society, through:

Presenting and hosting the Climate Hero Awards (CHA) to recognise and reward African heroes working towards inclusive, low carbon economic growth, a reduction in the impact and risks of extreme weather, green options for food security and a healthy continent. |

Maintaining and managing The Carbon Neutral Logo for our members to benefit from this credible way of portraying carbon footprint and offset for products and / or part of processes (i.e. annual business report, fleet process, etc.) |

Creating a platform for Voluntary and Mandatory Carbon Disclosure through the Protocol Registry as well as through providing an independent platform for the hosting of Programme of Activities (POA) as part of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects under the Kyoto Protocol. The Carbon Protocol of SA acts as the Coordinating and Management Entity for these POA’s. |
